Patricia Gonzalez is an occupational therapist and creator of the NeuroSuit. She opened Sunshine Therapy in 2001 specializing in hippotherapy and aquatic therapy then discovered the power of Suit Therapy and the intensive approach. She received training originally in the Therasuit Method ™ in 2002 and opened the first private clinic in the USA dedicated solely to Suit Therapy in Miami, Florida. This quickly expanded to 5 clinics in the Florida, Georgia and New Jersey. From the beginning, Patricia has encouraged her patients to combine hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments along with intensive therapy, as the two form a perfect union. Oxygen provides healing to the brain and Suit Therapy teaching the brain new functional ways of movement.
When an opportunity arose to study in Russia, where the concept of Suit Therapy began with the Russian Space Program, and in Poland at the famous Euromed Center, she eagerly accepted the invitation. In 2004 she traveled to Poland and Russia and completed a two week training program in theoretical and application aspects of the Adeli® Suit Methodology and Application for Rehabilitation and Treatment of Cerebral Palsy Patients, given at the Adeli® Methodology National Training Center of the Russian Federation. So excited by the new knowledge gained abroad, Sunshine Therapy hosted 2 doctors and 1 therapist over a three-month period in Atlanta, Georgia. Sunshine hosted 2 doctors, including the Chief of Staff from the Adeli® Methodology National Training Center of the Russian Federation. In 2006 she invented and produced the NeuroSuit. Different than the other suits available, the NeuroSuit has all the components of the other suits but additionally has arm attachments to provide dynamic correction and input to the upper extremities to increase function. She also created larger suits to fit large adults and expanded into working with persons following a stroke or traumatic brain injury. Patricia travels internationally speaking about the effectiveness of Intensive Therapy and the Intensive Model of Therapy with the goal of having insurance companies recognize the value of this therapy model.
