Away From Home...

At the Integrative Hyperbaric Centers, patients come from all over the world. For this reason, we focus on families and their needs during their stay at our facilities. From our fully stocked convenience kitchens to our child-minded playrooms, we care.

When patients visit
“A Place of Grace”

they come as strangers and leave as family

Physician Profile

Thomas Lin, MD

Catherine Heads

“All the education in the world did not prepare me to help my own son with autism,” Dr. Lin commented regrettably. That is why he had embarked on the current journey of re-education and learning from researchers, colleagues, patients and parents in order to help solve the autism puzzle.

Being a board-certified pediatrician by training, Dr. Lin’s educational background is also impressive. He graduated with the highest honors, Summa Cum Laude, in Biomedical Sciences from U.C. Riverside. He then received his medical doctorate degree from UCLA School of Medicine. His internship and residency training in Pediatrics was also completed at large institutions, Loma Linda University Medical Center and White Memorial Medical Center.

After certification by the American Board of Pediatrics in 1999, Dr. Lin started his general pediatrics practice in Monterey Park, California. He had served five years as the medical director of neonatal resuscitation at Monterey Park Hospital and associate clinical preceptor of the physician assistant program at USC School of Medicine. Despite his extensive experience in the medical care of children, Dr. Lin conceded that his training in traditional medicine fall short in adequately care for the medical problems of his own autistic son. After consultations and discussions with the “gurus of pediatrics” from UCLA and Loma Linda had offered little hope of recovery, Dr. Lin decided to “think outside the box” and implemented DAN! (Defeat Autism Now!) protocols on his son Jonathan.

Jonathan’s improvement with the DAN! approach is dramatic, giving confidence to the once skeptical doctor-father to help other autistic children in his practice. Dr. Lin has attended numerous DAN! conferences and physician training programs since 2004. He has mentored with expert DAN! Physicians like Dr. Jerry Kartzinel and Dr. Dan Rossignol. He has extensive experience with the treatment of autistic inflammatory bowel disease, “leaky-gut” syndrome, food allergies, yeast overgrowth of the gut, neuroinflammation, and disorders of metabolism associated with autism. He is a firm believer in aggressive yet safe methods of heavy metal chelation. He has steadily prescribed Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to modulate immune dysfunction and inflammation as well as to increase cerebral perfusion with oxygen, thereby decreasing neuroinflammation.

“Being a DAN! physician has taught me to listen more and learn from patients and parents,” Dr. Lin states, “The road to recovery may be long . . . but God has created children with remarkable repair mechanisms that when given the right combination of supportive medical care, i.e. giving your kids the proper nutrients/medications they need while removing the toxins/metals that had poisoned their biochemistry, our kids can Defeat Autism Now!
